New Rule

Since Max has been such a terrible eater, we decided to start a new rule. He has to at least try everything we make for dinner. It's been interesting and at times Max is at the table long after the rest of us have finished. We can only hope he is making progress, at least we are getting some good laughs from his gag faces. Here are some photos of him in action. Due to the graphic nature we did not include any photos of tonight's dinner, where he actually threw up after putting a piece of enchilada to his lips. As you can see we have no issues with Macey's eating habits...at least for the time being.

Dance Fever

Max and Macey put their dancing shoes on and graced the dance floor at Jen & Ken's wedding. They both had some slick moves.

We were actually able to catch the precious moment of Max and Grandma dancing.

Happy 5th Birthday Cooper

Our first baby has turned 5. He celebrated his big day with a Frosty Paws dog ice cream topped with dog treat candles. He just loved it and we are glad because we love him so much. He brings so much joy into our life and the kids just adore him. Heres to you Cooper. We love you buddy.

First Day of School

Today was Max's first day of preschool. I really cannot believe we are here already. Randy and I got to go with him so all went well. He hopped right in and started playing with the kids and did circle time with a smile. We will see how it goes on Thursday when I have to leave him but I can only hope it goes ok. My little guy is getting so big. I just love him so much.

I feel like ke a terrible blogger, as I have not written in about a month. Yikes. I thought I might just give the kid update.

Max - Doing great. He is keeping me busy with always wanting to play. He has become quite a drawing and coloring addict. That is actually something I enjoy too so it is fun. I have mixed feelings about the very soon future and him starting school. Of course I think he will love it and will learn so much but it just means he is growing up and that is sad. I know he is only three but I guess I am a softie.

Macey - Well she started walking and now is trying to run. She caught on really quick once she started. She acts like she has been doing it for awhile. Her favorite place to walk is the ceramic tile or the cement outside. She also won't listen to me about sitting down and turning around to go down the step into our family room and just takes the fall. Often it ends up in a somersault. So far she has held up from each fall very well. She is a lot like her Aunt Amy (daredevil) and Max more resembles me (cautious at first).

I love them so much.

The Party

Macey's party has come and gone. It was a very nice time with great company. Macey had fun but she did not like the cake too much. She is not much of a sweets person, unlike her mother and brother.

It is hard to believe that Miss Macey has turned one today. Well, she will technically be One at 10:47 p.m. - a moment I will never forget. We took her for her first ice cream tonight and you will see from the photos that she loved it once she got over that fact that it is really cold. Macey and Max each have their own chair now thanks to Ama and Papa. Happy Birthday to our little sweetheart. We love you so much.

Have Gas $$$, Will Travel...Vacation 2008!!

Summertime...the time to get away, relax and if possible take road trips. Well, the vacation was great until one of our travel companions decided they were not ready to come all the way home. Good Ole Mr. Durango is currently vacationing at an Auto Spa in Standish, but more on that later...

5 days in Gladwin and 5 days in Traverse City was on our horizon and with a vehicle packed to dome lights with kids, a dog, bikes, clothes, DVD's and a multitude of treats we embarked on our first whole family vacation. We started our trip in Gladwin with Grandma and Grandpa Lucier. Our days were filled with fishing, boating, jet skiing, jumping on trampolines, eating (lots of frozen Snickers bars) and beer for those old enough to enjoy. Max and Macey had fun in the sun and playing with their cousin Lucas. We were serenaded nightly to a barrage of fireworks worthy of any small city celebration, which didn't end when we decided to hit the hay...much to our chagrin.

Traverse City was our second destination, here we visited Aunt Mamie and Uncle Mac, the newest residents to the TC area. The CherryFest was in full swing and the weather was impeccable.

Our days here were filled with sun, sand and more Carnie fun than you can shake a stick at...actually it costs you $3 if you want to shake a stick at the Carnie Folk. We hit Sleeping Bear Dunes, biked, walked, watched the Dock Dog Competition, played games of chance and again enjoyed beer and good food (and more frozen Snickers bars).

So back to the end...halfway home and wiped out from 10 days of fun and Good Ole Mr. Durango decides to get a little steamy...actually it just plain overheated. So we were stranded on 75 between the ritzy Outlet Malls of West Branch and the tiny metropolis of Standish. Luckily, Gladwin was only 30 minutes away and Grandma and Grandpa Lucier graciously came to our rescue. We performed a switch-a-roo from the Downed Durango to a Marvelous MiniVan, which became our chariot home. So instead of the typical 4 hour drive, our return trip took 8...heck we could have just gone back to TC and the beaches. (FYI - 8 hours, 2 kids, 1 dog and an overheating car forcing you to have the heat on in 85 degree weather does not, in any way shape or form, equal a good time)

Even with this minor interruption the vacation was great. We had lots of fun, the kids explored many new things and we spent good time with good people. Max would say it's the "Best Bacation" we've ever had!!

Scared

So we are at the park today and "Muscle" Macey Lucier decided to show off her stuff. Holy cow is this girl strong. Max had a great time too. He also was showing off his stuff. I think Mom and Dad need to hit the gym real soon.

Hot Enough For Ya!!

Aaah...summer has finally arrived.

No better way to spend the day than chillin' poolside!!

Have you met our fish, Max & Macey?

Max would stay in all day if we let him and Miss Macey has no fear and dove right into the fun.

Max enjoys showing her all the fun things about playing in the pool and she follows right along.

She would go down the slide too if she could only figure out those darn slippery steps. Don't worry it won't be long.

Time to apply more sunscreen and back to the pool we go!!

Bathtime is a bit stressful because Macey tries to climb out of her blow up tub (I seriously think she thinks she is 3 like Max) and Max doesn't always want to stop playing to wash up but it is also really fun. They have so much fun in the tub together. They laugh, splash and get me all wet but it is fun, well at least when you are not in a hurry.

Well we finally figured out how to set up a blog (we think)...so here it goes.

9-2 and we were there to see it!!

Max at his 3rd game (veteran) and Macey her 1st (rookie), with snacks-o-plenty and a Paws sighting the kids did great..a complete game. Beth hardly ever makes it through a whole game herself. The Tigers won so of course that means Macey is a Tigers Good Luck charm and they'll win every time she goes...so if you're going down to the game and want to see them win you may want to think about bringing Macey.

And thanks to the infinite wisdom of MDOT we couldn't get home for 2 hours after the game...kids in a 2 hour traffic jam when we only brought snacks for a 3 hour game is not a good combo.
